Centro Sperimentale del Mobile e dell'Arredamento, known as CSM, is a consortium association of companies operating in the furniture sector.

CSM is based in Poggibonsi (Siena) and, in compliance with art.4 of the Articles of Association, its members may include "... the entrepreneurs of small and medium industrial enterprises, artisans operating in the furniture and furnishing sectors with production premises and headquarters in Tuscany, public bodies, including those of territorial nature, private bodies which carry out research and technical assistance services, trade associations in the industrial and artisan sectors and promotional consortia operating in the sector".

The Centro Sperimentale is managed by a Council, the members of which represent the economic components responsible for promoting the body. The fact that all the trade associations can make their own contribution to the formulation of the policies and strategies of the consortium represents one of the most significant and particular aspects of the operation, allowing the channelling of experiences, functions and know-how of varying nature in the same direction.

The Centre has its own qualified structure, which has been conceived to be highly streamlined with a view to the optimisation of the resources available and makes use of a network of professionals specialised in disciplines related to the various sectors of intervention - SDA Bocconi, Orga, Galgano, University of Florence.

For years, CSM has encouraged the birth and development of groups working in the sectors which operate prior and subsequent to the various stages of the furniture production process, with the aim of creating a competitive, fully-integrated system for the furniture and furnishing sector in Tuscany. Following this philosophy, in 1994, TWT - Tuscany Woodworking Technologies was set up. TWT is an export consortium which handles he promotion of the Tuscan manufacturers of woodworking machinery.

The activities managed by CSM can be split into three main categories: promotion and internationalisation, innovation and training.
